Searching for the right one
There are basically two ways to buy a CJ6A:
Directly from an importer
An importer may receive Nanchangs in varying conditions. Some planes must be completely disassembled and basically rebuilt. Others are in flyable condition. At the time of this writing (September 98) the prices vary from about $35,000 for the former to about $65,000 for the latter. Following is a list of importers:
"Used"
Another way to buy a CJ6A is from someone who has bought from an importer and is now selling. The prices for this route vary on the modifications made but run from $65,000 to about $110,000.
Once you think you've found the Right One, we would strongly suggest taking a trip to inspect it from head to tail before making a commitment. A thorough inspection of the first CJ6A we were interested in proved it to be not as good a deal as we thought.
